The middle years
Built a small mill into a four-state distribution network. Put two daughters through school in the same building he had refused to leave. Quietly funded scholarships for nine children he never asked to meet.
The last ten
Slowed down on his own terms. Reads philosophy in the morning. Walks 5 km every evening. Says he is finally learning how to be still.
